A Minnesota man who served on the front lines in Afghanistan tracking Al-Qaeda and later co-authored the 9/11 Commission Report says there are threats to America that still keep him on edge.

“Our enemies haven’t gone away,” says Mike Hurley, an Edina native who retired from the CIA after 25 years serving in various counterterrorism capacities. “I think they’re still out there.”

There are many threats that concern him, including the rapid advancement of the weaponization of drone technology.  

“One of the things that we’re seeing and that I think terrorists could deploy against us is the use of these cheap drones,” he told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS this week in an interview from Washington, D.C. “They don’t have to have these massive missiles that cost tens and tens of millions of dollars but can buy drones and put them up there.”
