The candidates for governor and Senate have agreed to some debates so far, despite disagreements on location and format.
MINNEAPOLIS — As 2026 midterm campaigning kicks into high gear, candidates in Minnesota's key races are participating in a time-honored tradition: haggling over debates.
In the governor's race, GOP nominee Lisa Demuth has accepted five debates while DFL nominee Amy Klobuchar has accepted three debates, with overlap in only two. The two candidates have mutually agreed to only one statewide TV debate so far, hosted by Fox 9 and Gray Television, plus another debate in Brainerd hosted by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce with KSTP's Tom Hauser moderating.
