St. Cloud police arrested a driver on Monday accused of fleeing after he crashed into parked cars and a home’s porch, then found methamphetamine, other drugs and a gun in his car.
The driver, 44-year-old Vernon Spoden, was arrested after St. Cloud police said an officer tried to get him to stop near 11th Street South for seat belt and turn signal violations.
Several officers began chasing Spoden with lights and sirens around 5:18 a.m. as he tried to flee.
The pursuit ended when Spoden hit several parked cars before crashing into a porch near 15th Avenue South. He then ran from police before he was arrested.
During a search of his car, police found a large amount of methamphetamine, other controlled substances, drug paraphernalia consistent with drug sales, and a gun with ammunition.
