A Monticello man was charged Tuesday for shooting his sister’s boyfriend in the chest over a dispute involving a cat, according to a criminal complaint.
48-year-old Steven Stahlberg was charged with two counts of second-degree murder. Stahlberg is accused of shooting and killing 57-year-old Daniel Ferderlman.
According to court documents, on Sept. 3, Stahlberg’s sister called 911 after she found her boyfriend, Ferderlman, dead in a bed in her Monticello home. Deputies with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and found the body with blood on the bed and some blood on the walls of the room.
Stahlberg’s sister told authorities she, Ferdelman and Stahlberg all lived together. Court records show Ferdelman called her while she was at work over a fight with Stahlberg.
