The liquor license renewal for Reign Event Center will now move forward after a mass shooting last month prompted the Minneapolis City Council to hold it for further review.
The renewal application first came before the Minneapolis City Council’s Business, Housing and Zoning Committee on July 21, just two days after nine people were shot and wounded outside the establishment.
Such renewals are usually a formality, but council members opted to delay a vote until city staff could report back on Reign’s safety record and whether the business was complying with the requirements to keep its liquor license.
