Since 2021, federal rules have required healthcare providers to give patients electronic access to most test results.

A new study found that nearly 70% of Americans who had access to their medical records saw results digitally before hearing from a provider. So, what should you do if a result says “abnormal” or you don’t hear anything at all?

While turning to artificial intelligence may not be recommended, for those who do use AI, experts suggest asking what that specific test measured, what to ask your doctor and to add additional content to any queries.
