Cade Tyson is back with the Gophers, but whether Minnesota’s leading scorer from a year ago will suit up this season remains unresolved.
The University of Minnesota announced Tuesday that Tyson has rejoined the men’s basketball program and is practicing with the team while awaiting an NCAA eligibility determination. The veteran guard/forward has enrolled in classes and returned to campus as Minnesota prepares for the 2026-27 season.
That decision comes at a time when NCAA eligibility rules remain the subject of ongoing legal challenges, creating uncertainty for a number of athletes seeking additional seasons of competition.
“We’re excited to have Cade rejoin our program,” head coach Niko Medved said. “We’re here to support him in any way we can through this process and are looking forward to having Cade around the facility and program.”
