A Minneapolis-based distributor can no longer sell any FDA-regulated goods until they prove to the federal government that their facility is clean and free of rodents, following a federal court order.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had sued Gold Star Distribution, Inc. and the owner, Bassam Abu Samrah, claiming that the facility had pests that contaminated products. The document said the pests included live and dead rodents, birds and worms.
The lawsuit aimed to stop the company from receiving, storing or distributing food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics until regulators determine that Gold Star Distribution is operating under safe conditions.
