Western Wisconsin is shaping up to be a battleground region for the state, with voters set to decide the balance of power in state government this November.
ST PAUL, Minn. — This November, Wisconsin voters will elect a new governor and most of the legislature -- including the entire State Assembly.
Similar to Minnesota, that means the balance of power in state government is on the line, with Western Wisconsin and its Twin Cities exurbs emerging as a key battleground in the governor's race and legislative matchups. While Democrats have controlled the governor's mansion for two terms under outgoing Gov. Tony Evers, Republicans have held majorities in both the Senate and Assembly since 2011.
