Minnesotans are casting early ballots at record levels as turnout climbs ahead of the midterm election.
The midterm elections are 10 days away, and the state said 419,000 early voting ballots have been accepted. The state told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that more than 241,000 people have already voted in person, and more than 177,000 have voted by mail.
Voters were lining up at the Plato Building in Saint Paul and at Bethal Lutheran Church in south Minneapolis, which has been turned into a permanent early voting location.
“If you don’t vote, then things can really get worse, so I might as well make my voice heard,” Chris Ke said.
“Seems like a pretty important time in our country and in our state to be heard and get your vote in,” Jonathan Bye said.
