Elk Mound voted 6-1 to disband its police force due to cost concerns.

ELK MOUND, Wis. — The Village of Elk Mound board voted to disband its police department, with the village president saying costs have become increasingly difficult to budget for.

The village board voted 6-1 Monday to disband its police department and contract with the Dunn County Sheriff's Office, our NBC affiliate WEAU reports. The Dunn County Board still needs to approve the contract. 

Elk Mound, located about 74 miles east of St. Paul, has a population of about 1,100 people. Read Entire Article
