Split vote keeps St. Paul cop killer in prison after 20 years

The man convicted of killing a St. Paul police officer nearly 60 years ago was denied parole on Friday.

After a month-long delay, the Minnesota Supervised Release Board denied Ron Reed supervised release after serving just over 20 years of a life sentence in prison.

The motion was to deny Reed parole. Two members voted yes and two members voted no.

The split vote went to Minnesota Department of Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell, who voted to keep Reed in prison.
