A strange piece of metal that could possibly be from space showed up in a western Minnesota cornfield this week, according to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office.

Someone called deputies to check out the large metallic object after it was discovered resting among harvested corn stalks on Wednesday afternoon.

The charred, bowl-shaped metal object is about 11 feet in diameter and several state and federal agencies say they are working to figure out who the debris belongs to.

Officials say that nobody should be worried and there is no danger to the public from the debris.

Authorities are trying to figure out how and when the object landed in the rural field.

Nobody was injured and no property was damaged by the unknown object.
