The drummer was placed in a coma after suffering a medical emergency earlier this month just minutes before taking the stage.
WASHINGTON — Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris has made some progress in his recovery following an induced coma after a medical emergency this month.
Paris' family issued a health update on Thursday, saying there have been some "encouraging moments and new challenges" in the drummer's recovery. Paris was hospitalized on Aug. 6 right before taking the stage in San Francisco for the group's joint tour with Lionel Richie.
