New Jersey governor calls for resignation of her lieutenant governor

WASHINGTON — New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill called for the resignation of her lieutenant governor, Dale Caldwell, on Thursday after the release of an investigative report showing Caldwell violated ethics rules and engaged in misconduct.

The report was written by a law firm hired by Sherrill's office and was released Wednesday. It said Caldwell tried to have his girlfriend promoted to a state job, made a sexual comment to a staff member, and brought guests to ticketed events without ethics clearance and without payment or reimbursement. He did not change his behavior after warnings.
