A neighbor who rushed outside to help after the lightning strike described it as "a scene that I never want to see again."

WASHINGTON — A mother and her 2-year-old daughter died Sunday afternoon after police in South Florida said they were struck by lightning and found lying on a sidewalk in a residential neighborhood.

Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her daughter were struck by lightning around 2:30 p.m. near 7941 Northwest 1st Street in Margate, about 40 miles north of Miami, according to the Margate Police Department.
