Minnesota’s newest military museum is open — here’s what to expect this weekend

The Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum opens this weekend in Little Falls with three days of events honoring veterans and highlighting the state’s military history.

The grand opening runs Friday through Sunday at the museum’s new 40,000-square-foot facility near Camp Ripley.

Organizers have planned commemorations marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, veteran-led experiences, historic warbird flyovers and family activities.

The museum houses more than 25,000 artifacts, interactive exhibits, restored military vehicles and aircraft showcasing Minnesota’s military history from the Civil War to the present day.

All outdoor events are free and open to the public. Admission to the museum galleries requires a timed-entry reservation.
