Hottest summer on record for contiguous United States, beating out the Dust Bowl

WASHINGTON — We already knew it was one of the hottest summers on record in the United States, but now it’s official.

Everyone was either the hottest, much above average, or above average, except for Indiana. Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah took the true number one spot.

These numbers come from not only an average of all 48 states, but also an average of the daytime highs and overnight lows.
