Doctor with University of Minnesota ties declared missing in Nepal floods

A doctor who recently completed a fellowship at the University of Minnesota and three of his family members were declared missing on Tuesday after catastrophic flooding in Nepal two weeks ago.

In a social media post, the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopedic Surgery said Dr. Ishan Patel traveled to Nepal on a pilgrimage after graduating from its Adult Reconstructive Fellowship. He was accompanied by his wife, Akansha Patel; his mother, Shilpa Patel; and his father-in-law, Umesh Kumar.
