Community rallies for Michigan healthcare workers after EMT suffers stroke

CALEDONIA, Mich. — Some people are simply called to help.

Destiny McDaniel found her calling in a chemotherapy center, in scrubs.

"I worked for Cancer Hematology," she said from her Caledonia living room.

Her husband, Lavell, found his in the back of an ambulance.

"He was an EMT for Life EMS," she said, gesturing to her husband sitting next to her.

Healthcare, Destiny said, has just always been in her blood.

"I've always liked caring for people," she said. "I think that's just how I was raised."
