Chauvin, again, asks a court to throw out his murder conviction

The former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd is asking for the court to overturn his conviction. The Star Tribune reports that an attorney for Derek Chauvin filed the petition for postconviction relief Aug. 18 in Hennepin County. The petition claims state officials violated Chauvin’s right to due process, adding that the complaint leading to his conviction was “unlawful, unfounded, and illegitimate.”

It’s the third time Chauvin has sought to have his conviction thrown out.
