Canadian man arrested in Alexandria for reporting fake kidnapping

A Canadian man was arrested in Alexandria on Saturday after reporting a false abduction with a gun in Winnipeg.

Alexandria Police Chief Scott Kent said that law enforcement stopped a white car with a black bumper on Saturday, which was initially reported as being involved in an abduction with a gun in Winnipeg.

Police found two men inside the car, Kent said. One of the men, a 37-year-old, admitted he falsely reported a kidnapping and knew the other man in the car.

Police took the 37-year-old to Douglas County Jail on suspicion of falsely reporting a crime.

No weapons were found in the car.
