Metro Transit police say a Blue Line train struck and killed a person Saturday morning in Minneapolis, the second fatal collision involving a light rail train in less than 24 hours.
According to Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr, a northbound train hit a person on the tracks just after 10 a.m. at the 46th Street Station. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Buses shuttled passengers between the Fort Snelling and Franklin Avenue stations while cleanup was underway, Kerr said.
The victim’s name has yet to be released.
Saturday morning’s incident comes after a Green Line train hit and killed someone Friday night at University and Prior avenues in St. Paul. Authorities had not released the name of the victim as of Sunday.
