Austin Former Pilot Takes Final Flight at 85

A heartwarming story out of Austin captured the spirit of one remarkable man who never let his dreams stay grounded. At 85 years old, former pilot Lew Schaar soared through the skies one final time after spending a decade away from flying. Producer and photographer Chandler Jackson from KAAL, the sister station in Rochester, was there to witness the unforgettable moment. We are saddened to share that Lew passed away earlier this month in Austin, where he will be remembered as a man who truly lived life to the fullest.
