OXFORD, Miss — The deaths of two students at Ole Miss are under investigation, according to local authorities.

Law enforcement is currently treating the deaths as separate investigations but said packaged kratom from a retail store was found in both circumstances, according to Lafayette County Metro Narcotics in Oxford, Mississippi.

Investigators said they have not confirmed that kratom or other substances played a role in the deaths, but encouraged people to be cautious.
