1 year later: What to know about Charlie Kirk's assassination, suspect's trial

OREM, Utah — Sept. 10, 2026, marks one year since conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at an outdoor speaking engagement at a Utah university.

Kirk, 31, a popular conservative political activist and media personality, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, during one of his many campus stops as part of his nonprofit political organization Turning Point USA's "American Comeback Tour." It was his first stop since resuming the tour.
